India is known to be a country that celebrates the joys and colours of life. This explains why a number of festivals, which until a few years ago were only celebrated internationally, are today being rejoiced in India with immense pomp and flair. Halloween and Thanksgiving Day being two of the most prominent ones in the recent times! So, while you may have scared the hell out of people on Halloween, it’s now time to bring in harmony, peace and joy on Thanksgiving Day. Celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, Thanksgiving Day is regarded as a day when one expresses heartfelt gratitude to the harvest and is thankful to God for his continuous grace.
The first-ever Thanksgiving Day was celebrated in America in 1621, and has continued to be an American tradition since then. This year, the day will be celebrated on November 27th.
A lavish meal, in the company of your loved ones (basically, all your friends and family members that really matter), is the best way of celebrating Thanksgiving Day. The dishes that are synonymous with the day are Turkey, Roast Duck with Onion Jus, Hot Crab Cakes, Clam Chowder and Pumpkin Sweet Cakes.
You can put a smile on the faces of your special people by giving them a little gift. It could be flowers, chocolates, personal accessories, or perhaps a useful household gift from soft cushions to premium crockery sets. Of course, what tops the list is a warm, tight hug!
In fact, you can thank Him for all the blessings bestowed upon you by making some lesser fortunate people happy. Consider helping or volunteering at a place or institute that truly needs your support, either a week or two before the day or perhaps on the day itself. So, feel blessed and make this Thanksgiving Day very, very special for all the people you truly love!
